Live slowly. Grow together.
Coast & Kin was built for families who want more than a vacation. We bring a curated group of like-minded families to a stunning European coastal village for three weeks of slow travel, real community, and the kind of summer your kids will still be talking about ten years from now.
Our inaugural summer takes place in Cascais, Portugal, a sun-drenched seaside town just 30 minutes west of Lisbon. Cobblestone streets, Atlantic beaches, and a culture built around slowing down and savoring life. It is the perfect backdrop for the season you have been dreaming about.
This guide walks you through everything: what is included, how to book, what to expect, and answers to the questions we hear most. If you do not find what you are looking for, reach out directly. We are a small team and we actually answer.
A note on group size: This experience is designed for 10 to 15 families. A minimum of 10 families is required for the trip to run. Spots are intentionally limited to keep the group small and the community real.
What is included
Your Coast & Kin experience covers the programming, community, and staffing that transforms a long-term rental into a shared family season.
Fully furnished apartments in central Cascais, booked through us. You choose the unit that fits your family.
Daily enrichment activities led by our Education Coordinator, including ocean exploration, art, culture, and more. For kids ages 3 to 12.
Curated group gatherings throughout the trip, from welcome dinners to beach days to sunset socials, planned by our Community Event Leader.
Access to shared co-working space so you can keep up with work while the kids are in camp. Wifi, community, and good coffee included.
Coordinated group outings to the best of the region, planned in partnership with a local company.
A dedicated On-Site Facilitator available throughout the trip to handle logistics and make sure your family feels taken care of from day one.
What is not included
We want to be fully transparent so there are no surprises. The following are not covered by your Coast & Kin experience and are the responsibility of each family.
- International flights to and from Lisbon
- Personal groceries and individual meals outside of group events
- Personal transportation within Cascais or beyond (car rental, taxis, Uber)
- Travel insurance (strongly recommended for all families)
- Personal spending, activities, and excursions outside of the group program
- Visa fees or documentation required for international travel
One midstay cleaning is covered. We take care of a professional cleaning for every apartment halfway through the stay. No need to coordinate it yourself.
A note on travel insurance: We strongly encourage every family to purchase comprehensive travel insurance, including trip cancellation coverage. Portugal is a welcoming, easy-to-navigate destination, and having the right coverage means you can travel with full peace of mind.
How to reserve your spot
Spots are limited to 10 to 15 families. Here is how the process works.
The available apartments in central Cascais are open for booking. We will guide you through the booking process with us. You choose the one that fits your family size and budget. Once you are booked, we can refer you to our dedicated travel agent for flights and booking airport transfers.
Here is where you tell us a little about your family: how many kids, how many adults. This allows us to include everyone in the programming. If you have older children who won't be needing camp but would like to be included in other activities, please let us know via email at coastandkintravel@gmail.com.
Once your spot is confirmed, we will send a full onboarding packet covering the program schedule, packing suggestions, camp details, excursion info, and everything your family needs to arrive ready.
Your on-site team will be there to welcome you. From the first day to the last, everything is taken care of. All you have to do is show up and be present.
What to expect to invest
Your total investment for the summer has three parts: the furnished apartment (booked through us), the community fee (covering programming, events, staffing, co-working access, and curated excursions), and the child fee (participating in camp and activities).
Available Apartments (21 Nights)
All apartments are in Cascais, fully furnished, and booked through us. We have a range of sizes to fit your family. Prices reflect the 21-night stay, August 7–28.
| Size | Best for | Price Range |

| 1 Bedroom | Solo parent or couple + 1–2 kids | $5,379 – $6,379 |
| 2 Bedroom | Family of 3–5 | $5,926 – $8,924 |

Prices are in USD and reflect the apartment cost only. The community fee and child fee are separate. Nothing is paid directly to the property — all bookings go through Coast & Kin. Browse and book apartments →
Community Fee & Child Fee
The community fee covers all Coast & Kin programming, group events, on-site staffing, co-working access, curated excursions, and applies per adult. The child fee applies per child for kids ages 3 to 12.
Spots fill fast. We are capped at 10 to 15 families by design. This is a small, intentional community, and once it is full, it is full. If you are seriously considering this summer, book now. We would hate for you to miss it.
How payments work
Once you select your apartment, we will need your family details including number of adults and children in your family. Payment is due in full at the time of booking.
The camp includes 7 hours per weekday, with everything we need to set them up for the best summer of their lives.
The adult add-on covers your coworking, community events, curated excursions, and on-site support.
Your on-site team will be ready and waiting. See you there.
If plans change
Coast & Kin Program Fee

We are a small, founder-led company and we will always work with families directly if an unexpected situation arises.
Travel insurance reminder: We strongly recommend purchasing a policy that includes trip cancellation coverage. It protects your full investment and gives you the flexibility to say yes now without worrying about the unexpected.
Frequently asked questions
Coast & Kin is designed for families with kids who want to travel slowly, work remotely or take time off, and share the experience with a small group of like-minded families. If you have ever thought, "I wish I knew other families doing this," this is for you.
Our Education Coordinator designs programming for kids ages 3 to 12. If your children fall outside that range, reach out and we will talk through what works best for your family.
No. Some families will work remotely throughout the trip using the co-working space. Others are taking extended time off. You do not have to be a remote worker to join.
Not at all. Cascais is a well-traveled international destination and English is widely spoken. Our on-site team is also there to help with any language needs or navigation challenges throughout your stay.
Absolutely. Coast & Kin welcomes all family structures. Part of what makes this experience special is the built-in community, and that community is a genuine support system for every family in the group, regardless of how many adults are traveling.
Our Education Coordinator designs activities to be engaging and adaptable, and participation is always encouraged but never forced. Kids gravitate toward the activities when they see other kids having fun. That said, this is your family's summer and you set the pace.
Yes. Just let us know about any early arrival or late departure when you are booking with us so we can factor that into your planning.
We can take care of airport transfer assistance for all families. Just share your flight details when you receive your onboarding packet and we will handle the rest via our expert travel advisor.
Cascais is a small, incredibly walkable seaside town just 30 minutes west of Lisbon. The historic center is compact and easy to navigate on foot, with everything you need within a few blocks: cafes, markets, restaurants, the beach, and a lively town square. It has the feel of a real Portuguese town, not a tourist resort, which is exactly why it is such a wonderful place to spend 3 weeks with your family.
We need a minimum of 10 families to operate the full program. If we do not reach that threshold, you will be notified in advance and all program fees will be fully refunded.
